Back in the UK now and getting ready for the winter in Austria. We will be working in the resort of St Anton near Innsbruck. We have spent the last weeks going to the gym most days to get into some sort of shape for the skiing. We had planned a modest few times a week but the first couple of weeks here Bens sister Lou was in town as well and we thought we better keep her company. She trains everyday and there was no way Ben was going to let his little sister out do him!!!! Olympian or not! Turns out Lou has learnt a thing or two from being a gym bunny for six years and has had us on a strict programme. The English are a strange breed and those who work out are no different. They neither stretch or warm up before doing lots of weights and a whole clan of them will drive to the gym and get on the limited number of tread mills and walk for an hour at such a slow pace that they can keep up a loud conversation and keep their shell suit jackets on. They would get a higher heart rate walking the same pace in the rougher areas of Liverpool waving their cell phones about. And it would be cheaper... mostly. Karen’s bro Jimmy P is here now. He wandered in from Belgium for a visit before wandering off somewhere else when we leave. It’s a pleasure to see a low riding, dread locked skater after so many shell suit clad scousers. We had borrowed a car from Uncle Jimmy while he was out of town, and it was broken into out side the house. Lucky for us the kids were seen doing it and ran off but we still had the pleasure of a smashed window for our entertainment. Turns out the local kids think that a certain type of car stereo can be connected to a satellite dish and hey presto you get all the sky pay per view channels for free!!!! But their not sure which brand so are having a go at all of them. Only in Liverpool.
